Colchester, Vt. (December 1) -- The women's
hockey team made it five straight wins this afternoon, defeating
Saint Michael's 7-0 at Saint Michael's Cairns Arena. The win
improves the Hawks to 5-0-0, 4-0-0 ECAC East, while the loss drops
Saint Michael's to 2-1-1, 2-1-1 in league play.
Seven different Hawks recorded goals, as the Hawks held a 53-13
advantage in shots on goal. Bianca DeSantis (Georgetown,
Mass.) got things rolling for the Hawks, scoring just 46
seconds into the game, assisted by Mollie Welch (Medford,
Mass.).Kerri Aylward (Hanover, Mass.)
added her first goal of the season at the 5:03 mark, assisted by
Alexa Hingston (Charlestown, Mass.) and
Arden Lyons (Westford, Mass.).Lindsay Snow
(Amherst, N.H.) scored with 23 seconds left in the first
period, assisted by Kelsey Johnson (Byfield,
Mass.) and Kathleen Twomey (Londonderry,
N.H.), giving the Hawks a 3-0 lead going into the first
intermission.
In the second period, Arianna Rigano (Malden,
Mass.) picked up her second goal of the season, assisted
by DeSantis, at the 1:40 mark. Twomey scored at the 5:32 mark,
assisted by Samantha Rowe (Chelmsford, Mass.).
In the third period, the Hawks added two more. Tiea
Kurlowecz (Concord, Mass.) scored off a Cindy
Lebel (Greenville, Maine) pass at the 3:01 mark, while
Arden Lyons added to her early assist with a goal at the 19:59 mark
in the third.
Jen Taylor (Canandaigua, N.Y.) picked up her
second win of the season in net with the shutout, and Saint
Michael's Melanie Cullen (Derry, N.H.) made 46 saves in
the loss.
The Hawks return to the ice Sunday afternoon, traveling to
Norwich for a 3 p.m. start.
