Rutland, Vt. (November 17) -- The men's
hockey team defeated Castleton State 3-1 on Saturday afternoon
at the Rutland Regional Fieldhouse. The win improves the Hawks to
1-0-1, 1-0-1 ECAC East, while the loss drops Castleton to 0-1-1,
0-1-1 ECAC East.
The Hawks got on the board first when Mike Foley
(Medford, Mass.) scored at the 1:51 mark, assisted by
Colin Fitzpatrick (Westwood, Mass.) and
John Hennessey (Westwood, Mass.). Castleton
responded to the goal at the 9:09 mark. Jeff Alexander
(Gilbert, Ariz.) scored a power play goal to knot the game
at one. The Hawks scored another in the first, as Mike
Adams (Bedford, Mass.) put home a Matt Grazioso
(Quincy, Mass.) pass at the 12:10 mark. Saint Anselm took
the 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
An evenly played second period, the Hawks snuck in another goal
with just 11 seconds left to play in the period. Mike Foley added
his second goal of the game, assisted by Seth Goodrich
(Salisbury, Mass.), making the score 3-1. Neither
team scored in the third.
Jason Zuck (Clifton, N.J.) had a solid game
between the pipes registering 30 saves.
The Hawks are back in action on Friday, November 30, hosting
Tufts at Sullivan Arena at 7 p.m.
