Easton, Mass. (October 10) -- Jackie
Ladino scored for No. 7 Stonehill early in the first
overtime period to lift the Skyhawks past Saint Anselm by a 2-1
final in overtime in Northeast-10 Conference field hockey action.
The Hawks took an early lead on the third goal of the season
from sophomore Karrie Muma (N. Falmouth, Mass.).
Assisting on the goal was junior Laura Urko (Attleboro,
Mass.). The Hawks took the 1-0 lead into the halftime
break before Stonehill's Claire Hourihan scored at
the 49:22 mark to tie the game. In the extra period, Ladino struck
for her fifth goal of the season at the 74:18 mark to lift the
hosts to the victory.
Saint Anselm goalie Riley Haddock (Falmouth,
Maine) made eight saves in the loss, while Stonehill
netminder Dani Ryder turned aside three shots in
the victory.
With the loss, the Hawks fall to 5-9 overall and 5-8 in league
play. The team is back in action on Saturday, October 13th when the
Hawks travel to Merrimack for a league game beginning at 6 p.m.
