Austin Davis (Lakeland, Fl.) led Assumption to a Northeast-10 football victory over Saint Anselm in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Grappone Stadium.
With the win, the Greyhounds improve to 1-1, 1-1 NE-10, while the Hawks fall to 1-1, 0-1 NE-10.
With the score tied at zero at the start of the fourth quarter, Assumption FS
Peter Milligan (Melrose, Mass.) made an interception and returned the ball 25 yards to the Saint Anselm 44 yard line. QB
Jon Breuer, found Davis for nine yards, and then later connected with
Jake Longnecker (Bedford, N.H.) for the first down at the 12 yard line. Austin Davis found
Anthony Davy (Snellville, Ga.) in the endzone for the touchdown. The kick from
Mike Tobin (Woburn, Mass.) was good to put Assumption up, 7-0, with only 6:22 to play.

Shane Dinagen (Harrisville, R.I.) sent a 22-yarder to WR
Pat Turner (No. Andover, Mass.) to start the Hawks' scoring drive. After connecting with
Kevin Lukas (Rocky Hill, Conn.) for a gain of nine, Dinagen found
Mike Donoghue (Newbury, N.H.) in the endzone to bring the Hawks within one.
Michael Garcarz's (New Britain, Conn.) kick was good, tying the game, 7-7, with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.
On Assumption's next drive,
Mark Wysocki (New Britain, Conn.) intercepted a pass from Breuer, stranding the Greyhounds at the Saint Anselm 17.
But on the Hawk's next drive, Asssumption SS
Gino Meccariello (Southington, Conn.) intercepted Dinagen's pass, returning the ball 28 yards to the Saint Anselm 43.
With only four seconds remaining in the game, Saint Anselm's
Casey Larson (Pascoag, R.I.) sacked Breuer for a loss of 13 yards, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Assumption's
Matt Cerins (Manchester, Conn.) at the 41-yard line, ending regulation.
In overtime, Assumption won the toss, choosing to defend. Saint Anselm's only gain in OT came from a 1 yard rush by Donoghue.
Matt Curran (Westminster, Mass.) and Merccariello teamed up to sack Dinagen for a loss of five yards, and Garcarz's 47 yard field goal attempt missed, flying wide left.
Austin Davis led the ensuing Assumption scoring drive, rushing for 24 yards over three plays. Breuer's one yard rush scored the game winner for the Greyhounds.
Davis ended the game rushing for 186 yards (28 carries, 6.64 ypc), and one 10-yard TD pass.
Dinagen finished 19-48 with two interceptions for the Hawks. Breuer finished 17-35 with one interception.
Thomas Kelleher (Wakefield, Mass.) led the defense for the Hawks with 14 tackles (seven solo), and two tackles for a loss of 12 yards. Larson finished with nine tackles (seven solo), 5.5 tackles for a loss of 60 yards, and 4.5 sacks for a loss of 44 yards.
Mike Pruell (Walpole, Mass.) led the Greyhounds' defense with nine tackles (six solo) and two tackles for a loss of 10 yards.
Saint Anselm travels to Pace for a 1:00 p.m. conference contest on Saturday. Assumption hosts Bryant on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. NE-10 contest.
