Manchester, N.H. (October 23, 2004)—
Marc Eddy (Algonquin, Mass.) become the third quarterback in New England football history to reach the 10,000 yard passing mark with an impressive first half effort as 22
nd-ranked Bentley College whipped Saint Anselm by a score of 62-3 in a Northeast-10 Conference game at Grappone Stadium.
Eddy completed 23 of 38 passes for 414 yards and six touchdowns on the afternoon. Much of his damage was done in the first half as he threw 19-for-24 for 391 yards and six scores as Bentley took a 48-3 lead into the intermission.
The Falcons, who improve to 7-1 both overall and in the Northeast-10, set school records for total offense (626) and defensive interceptions (7) in the game. Saint Anselm, which has lost four of their last five games, falls to 4-4 overall, 3-4 in the NE-10.
Four of the seven Saint Anselm interceptions resulted in Bentley scores including the first two of the game with the Falcons building a 14-0 lead just 5:24 into the action. The scoring started a 29-yard scoring pass to
Dallas Mall (Northboro , Mass. ) on a 4
th down and nine play 1:42 into the game. The Falcons made the score 14-0 on a 15-yard pass from Eddy to
Kristopher Lake (Dudley , Mass. ) to cap an eight play, 59-yard drive at the 9:36 mark and never looked back.
Third down conversions would become a familiar occurrence in the game as Bentley found success on 8-of-12 third down conversions in the opening half alone, three of those plays going for touchdowns.
Saint Anselm's lone score came via
Michael Garcarz (New Britain , Conn. / New Britain ), who booted an NE-10 season-best 38-yard field goal in the first quarter.
Mall finished his day with eight receptions for 142 yards and four touchdowns. Lake finished with three catches for 61 yards and two scores and
