Michael Sirois is in his 16th year at Saint Anselm, his seventh as Head Athletic Trainer, in 2020-21.
As the Head Athletic Trainer, Sirois is responsible for overseeing all aspects of sports medicine coverage for the 470-plus student-athletes and 17 intercollegiate teams, including prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. Sirois coordinates supervision of a staff that includes three other certified athletic trainers, as well as several interns and work study students.
Sirois serves as institutional coordinator of the drug testing program and also serves on the College Health Committee. Sirois is also designated as the Athletics Health Care Administrator (AHCA) for Saint Anselm athletics.
Prior to the 2020-21 academic year, Sirois was voted by his peers to serve as the Chairperson of the Northeast-10 Conference's Sports Medicine Council. He will work with his colleagues at other institutions on a variety of initiatives, including the review, recommendation and promotion of policies related to student-athlete health, safety, and well-being through research, education, best practices, and collaboration with member schools and national governing bodies.
A native of Ellsworth, Maine, Sirois graduated Cum Laude from the University of New England in Biddeford, Maine, with a degree in athletic training in 2002. He also played soccer and earned four varsity letters at UNE. He then went on to the University of Utah where he graduated in May of 2004 with a Master's degree in exercise physiology. While at Utah, Sirois served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Utes' baseball team.
Sirois is a certified athletic trainer (ATC) and is also certified by the American Red Cross in CPR for the professional rescuer. Sirois is also a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Through the NASM, Sirois is a Performance Enhancement Specialist.
Sirois is a member of the sports medicine staff for the USA Women’s Ice Hockey New England Development Camp. Players from this camp are among those selected for the USA National Select Teams.
He is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, College Athletic Trainers' Society, and National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Sirois currently resides in New Hampshire, with his wife, Meghan and their two children, Bryson and Maisie.
