Griffin Spencer begins his sixth academic year as the Director of Athletic Communications at Saint Anselm in 2022-23.

He is tasked with the public and media relations duties for the 23 NCAA Division II varsity sports programs on the Hilltop. Spencer and the athletic communications team at Saint Anselm provide publicity of the academic and athletic achievements of over 525 student-athletes through a variety of channels, including but not limited to social media, traditional media, high-definition webcasts and the Hawks athletics website.

Since joining the Hawks in August 2017, Spencer has spearheaded improvements to the Hawks online presence, piloting two redesigns of SaintAnselmHawks.com. Additionally, Saint Anselm has steadily increased the quality of its webcasts and currently features full high-definition, multi-camera productions. Highlight films for all varsity sports teams are also produced by the athletic communications department.

In addition to overseeing a staff of over 15 student work study employees and interns, Spencer provides assistance to several major events for the department, including the annual Athletics Hall of Fame celebration and its yearly Days of Giving fundraisers that have generated over $200,000 in the last two years alone. He also is the point-of-contact for the College's overall consumer products trademark licensing program, working with partners across campus and through Exemplar Associates to leverage the Saint Anselm brand and trademarks.

In late 2021, Spencer was named the Sport Supervisor for the brand-new Hawks women's bowling program, set to launch as a member of the East Coast Conference and compete at the National Collegiate level in 2022-23. 2021 was also the first year for Spencer as the public relations contact for the New England Women's Hockey Alliance, the newest National Collegiate (Division I) women's ice hockey league. He handles all publicity for the seven-team league, maintaining the NEWHA website, issuing weekly awards and fulfilling media requests.

Spencer has supervised the media relations coverage for several on-campus NCAA Division II Championships, including the 2019 and 2023 East Region Men’s Basketball Championships and three East Region Softball Championship pods (2018, 2019, 2021). He has provided coverage for four regional championship teams from Saint Anselm (men's and women's basketball; 2019, softball; 2018, 2021) and the College's national runner-up softball (2018) and field hockey (2019) teams..

Spencer came to Manchester from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt. where he served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. He was the primary point of contact for Cadets football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's lacrosse, wrestling and women's volleyball. In addition, Spencer was the primary color commentator for the nationally-ranked Cadets women's ice hockey program and developed content for a bi-monthly athletics newsletter, informing an alumni base of over 15,000 subscribers.

Prior to his time at Norwich, Spencer served as an Assistant Athletic Director at Wells College in Aurora, N.Y., overseeing the public relations efforts for all 16 of the institution's varsity sports. In addition, he managed and coordinated the game-day operations for home athletic contests, while managing both interns and student work-study employees.

Spencer worked to improve the Wells Athletics' social media presence, developing Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts that have led the Express to the No. 17 ranking in the nation, according to d3socialmedia.com rankings. During his time in Aurora, Spencer also assisted with the complete overhaul of the College's athletics facilities, including a gymnasium renovation and the construction of a state-of-the-art turf field complex.

No stranger to the Queen City, Spencer worked for Saint Anselm during the 2011-12 academic year as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. He also spent time with the Manchester Monarchs, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings (NHL), as the Public and Community Relations Coordinator prior to his arrival on the Hilltop.

A 2011 graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a degree in Sport Management, Spencer received a Master of Business Administration degree from Norwich University in 2018. Spencer is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
