MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College softball team split a pair of tightly contested games against Southern New Hampshire (SNHU) on Thursday, including one that needed extra innings to settle. In game one, the Hawks rallied to tie things up in the seventh, but fell in nine innings by a 3-2 final. They flipped the script in game two, once again coming through in the seventh courtesy of the go-ahead two-run hit by junior Rose Reitmeyer (Oxford, Conn.) to secure the 5-3 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):
- Both teams were quiet at the plate early, combining for just two hits through the first four innings.
- The scoreless tie was broken in the top of the fifth. Senior Alyssa Wironen (Leominster, Mass.) started things off with a double to left center field for Saint Anselm, and later in the inning, a groundout by sophomore Sarah Cipriani (Woodbury, Conn.) scored sophomore pinch-runner Madeline Trisket (Binghamton, N.Y.) for the game's first run.
- SNHU answered in the sixth, grabbing the lead on a two-run double by Charlotte Donovan that brought home Mackenzie Bruggeman and Peyton Feldman.
- Cipriani delivered again for the Hawks in the top of the seventh, tying the game with an RBI single that scored freshman pinch-runner Katie Fox (Dracut, Mass.), who entered after a double by sophomore Caitlyn Duquette (Bedford, N.H.).
- After a scoreless eighth, the Penmen walked it off in the ninth. After two quick outs, Jordyn Resetar reached on a single and then scored on a double to center field by Feldman to give SNHU the 3-2 win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GAME 1):
- Saint Anselm scored two runs on five hits while drawing three walks, leaving six runners on base, and committing two errors in the field.
- SNHU scored three runs on eight hits while drawing three walks and leaving eight runners stranded.
- Charlotte Donovan earned the win for the Penmen. She tossed the final two innings while allowing just one hit and one walk to go along with three strikeouts.
- Sophomore Sam Ryan (Tewksbury, Mass.) went the distance for the Hawks, pitching 8.2 innings. She allowed eight hits and three earned runs while striking out three batters.
- Junior Lily Mason (Derry, N.H.) collected two of Saint Anselm's five hits, marking her second multi-hit game of the season and the third of her career.
- Cipriani went 1-4 at the plate and had both RBIs in the game for the Hawks.
- This marked the 57th all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and SNHU, with the Penman improving to 31-26 in the series. It was also the longest game between the two since the inaugural matchup in 2004 — a 10-inning, 3-2 win for Saint Anselm.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
- Reitmeyer got the scoring started in the top of the second inning. She launched her team-leading fourth home run of the season over the left field wall, a two-run shot, giving Saint Anselm an early 2-0 lead.
- The Hawks extended their lead in the fifth as Cipriani led off the frame with a double. She later came around to score on a single from sophomore Brooke Tardugno (Methuen, Mass.), making it a 3-0 game.
- The Penmen responded in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game with three runs that came off a single by Resetar, a double by Bruggeman, and an error.
- Reitmeyer came up clutch again in the top of the seventh, delivering an RBI single that brought home senior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.). Senior Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.) also scored on the play due to a fielding error as the Hawks took a 5-3 lead.
- SNHU threatened in the bottom of the seventh with a leadoff double, but senior pitcher Sophia DiPippo (Cranston, R.I.) shut the door. She retired the next three batters to earn her first save of the season and seal the win for Saint Anselm.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS (GAME 2):
- Saint Anselm scored five runs on 11 hits while leaving five runners on base and committing one error in the field.
- SNHU scored three runs on nine hits while leaving eight runners stranded and committing two errors in the field.
- Sophomore Kendra Lee (Endicott, N.Y.) earned the win for the Hawks in the circle. In six innings of work, she allowed nine hits and two earned runs while striking out five.
- DiPippo earned her first career save after getting the final three outs of the game. She gave up one hit and recorded one strikeout.
- Reitmeyer went 2-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBIs. She now leads the team with four home runs and 25 RBIs (fourth in NE10) this season. It also marked her third game this season with three or more RBIs.
- Arsenault had two hits and stole a base. She now has 24 steals on the season, which ranks second in the NE10.
- Wironen extended her hitting streak to five games with a double. It is the longest active streak on the team and is tied for the third-longest by a Hawk this season.
- This marked the 58th all-time meeting between Saint Anselm and SNHU, with the Hawks improving to 27-31 in the series. The teams are now tied 2-2 in head-to-head matchups this season.
