RINDGE, N.H. - The Saint Anselm College softball team split results with Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday afternoon falling 5-2 in game one before defeating the Ravens in game two by a final score of 6-4. The Hawks improved to 11-7 in conference play while the Ravens now own a 10-8 league record.

- The Hawks return to the Hilltop on Friday, April 26 to host Pace University for a Northeast-10 Conference (NE10) doubleheader with game one slated for a 2:30 p.m. start time.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- Franklin Pierce took a 1-0 edge to open the first game of the afternoon thanks to an RBI triple by Bigwood in the bottom of the first. Sophomore Rose Reitmeyer (Oxford, Conn.) answered in the top of the second with a solo home run to even the score at 1-1.
- The Ravens regained a one-run advantage following an RBI double by Magnette to make it 2-1. After a quiet couple of innings, the Hawks once again tied the game in the top of the fifth. After junior Alyssa Wironen (Leominster, Mass.) kicked off the inning with a single, freshman Brooke Tardugno (Methuen, Mass.) checked in as a pinch runner.
- Junior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.) then singled to left field to put two Hawks on base. Tardugno then scored as a result of a fielding error by the Ravens to level the score at 2-2.
- Franklin Pierce tacked on an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth to go ahead 3-2. The Ravens sealed the win in the sixth inning cashing in two more runs of four hits in the featuring a solo home run by Bigwood to take game one by a final score of 5-2.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Ravens scored five runs off nine hits while recording two errors. The Hawks ended game one with five hits after scoring two runs and producing two errors.
- Franklin Pierce had six extra-base hits highlighted by a home run from Bigwood along with three doubles and two triples. Saint Anselm only recorded one extra-base hit with a solo home run by Reitmeyer, her fifth of the season.
- Four other Hawks tallied one hit in the contest including senior Gracie O'Hara (Shrewsbury, Mass.), senior Hannah Ramer (Rehoboth, Mass,), Wironen, and Arsenault.
- Senior Haile Hicks (Jefferson, N.H.) picked up the loss for Saint Anselm after throwing the opening five innings allowing four earned runs off seven hits and striking out five batters. Freshman Sam Ryan (Tewksbury, Mass.) pitched the final inning allowing zero runs and just two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Once again, the Ravens jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first to start game two with a 2-0 edge. Saint Anselm responded quickly in the top of the second as O'Hara picked up an RBI double to score junior Sam Wiberg (Exeter, N.H.) followed by an RBI double by Arsenault to tie the game at 2-2.
- The Hawks bats continued swinging in the top of the third adding two more runs off two hits to take a 4-2 lead. After Reitmeyer singled to left field to load the bases, Wiberg scored junior Ava Caputo (Waterbury, Conn.) and freshman Jamir Calkins (Charlton, Mass.) after home after reaching on an error.
- The Raven cut the Hawks lead in half with a solo home run by Cangiano in the bottom of the third to make it a 4-3 game. In the top of the fourth, Caputo got the offense going with a triple to left field and soon scored off an RBI single by Calkins. Wiberg cashed in another RBI as Calkins scored unearned off an outfield error to extend Saint Anselm's lead to three runs.
- Although Franklin Pierce tacked on a late run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single from Campos, the Hawks retired the side in the bottom of the seventh giving up zero hits and stranding one Raven baserunner to cement the 6-4 victory in game two over Franklin Pierce.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Saint Anselm recorded six runs, 11 hits, and zero errors while Franklin Pierce posted four runs off six hits along with four errors.
- The Hawks produced five extra-base hits featuring four doubles and a triple in comparison to the Ravens with three doubles and a home run for four extra-base hits.
- Wiberg led the Hawks with three RBI after going 1-for3 at the plate with one run scored and a double. Caputo had a 2-for-3 performance highlighted by her first triple of the season, the fourth in her career.
- Ramer and Arsenault each earned a double in the contest while Calkins, O'Hara, and Arsenault each recorded an RBI in the win for Saint Anselm.
- Ryan earned her first collegiate win on the mound as a Hawk after pitching the entire seven innings giving up four runs off six hits and punching out three batters.
