MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Saint Anselm College softball team was bested by Bentley University on Monday afternoon during a Northeast-10 Conference twinbill. The Hawks dropped to 0-4 in league play as the Falcons picked up their first pair of conference wins to improve to 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 1):
- The Falcons jumped out to an early 1-0 lead thanks to a home run by Jordan Kraus to kick off game one. Sophomore Rose Reitmeyer (Oxford, Conn.) picked up the first hit of the day for the Hawks with a single to left center.
- Senior Haile Hicks (Jefferson, N.H.) punched out to batters in the top of the second to keep Bentley off the scoreboard heading into the third. The Falcons defense produced a double play to end the third inning and keep the game locked at 1-0 Bentley.
- After a quiet fifth inning, the Falcons bats came alive in the top of the sixth posting seven runs off six hits to take a 8-0 lead. Kylee Amato highlighted for Bentley with a three RBI home run before freshman Sam Ryan (Tewksbury, Mass.) checked into the game to strikeout Samantha Hess and end the inning.
- Saint Anselm responded in the bottom of the sixth as freshman Jamie Calkins (Charlton, Mass.) singled to deep left field and advanced to third base on the throw. Junior Ava Caputo (Waterford, N.Y.) scored Calkins to put the Hawks on the scoreboard and make it 8-1.
- In the final inning of the game, Bentley tacked on a late run as Sabrina Grizzaffi brought home Krause to seal the Falcons game one victory by a final score of 9-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Bentley posted nine runs on 11 hits and recorded two errors while Saint Anselm produced one run on five hits along with a pair of errors.
- Calkins went 1-for-2 at the plate with a single, one run, and a stolen base. Caputo picked up the lone RBI for the Hawks with her sacrifice fly.
- Krause ended the game by going 2-for-3 at the plate with one RBI, one run, and a home run. Amato also recorded a home run for Bentley after going 1-for-4 with three RBIs and one run.
- Hicks picked up her fourth loss of the season after throwing for five innings allowing eight runs on eight hits. She struck out seven Falcons and gave up one walk after facing 28 total batters. Ryan pitched the final inning of the game allowing one earned run on three hits along with one punchout.
- Riley Piromalli earned the win for Bentley pitching all seven innings and allowing just one earned run on five hits. She recorded one strikeout and two walks after facing 27 batters.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game 2):
- Calkin kicked off the hitting for Saint Anselm in the bottom of the first with a double to right center for her second hit of the day. In the top of the second inning, Bentley cashed in the first run of game two thanks to an RBI single by Jess Morrison to give the Falcons the early 1-0 edge.
- Bentley tacked on two more runs in the third inning off three hits. Lauren Massry picked up an RBI single followed by another RBI by Gabriella Longo to make it 3-0 Falcons.
- The Hawks answered in the bottom of the third, as senior Hannah Ramer (Rehoboth, Mass.), Reitmeyer, and Calkin each walked to load the bases. Senior Gracie O'Hara (Shrewsbury, Mass.) ripped the ball to right center for a three-RBI double to tie the game up at 3-3.
- The Falcons quickly responded in the top of the fourth by regaining the lead and taking a four-run advantage after posting three hits. Grizzaffi notched a three-RBI double to go up 6-3 before Massry posted an RBI single to make it 7-3.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Ramer opened the inning with a bunt single followed by a single from Caputo. Reitmeyer then reached first on a fielding error by the Falcons to load the bases up for O'Hara. She popped the ball up to left field for a sacrifice fly to score Ramer, but the Hawks stranded two runners as Bentley held a 7-4 lead heading to the sixth inning.
- Saint Anselm recorded one hit in the final two innings of the game as junior Audrey Arsenault (Stow, Mass.) produced a single to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Falcons secured the sweep by winning game two of the day by a final score of 7-4.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Bentley posted seven runs on 11 hits and recorded one error while Saint Anselm notched four runs on five hits along with one error in game two of the day.
- O'Hara led the Hawks offense in game two after 1-for-3 with four RBIs and a double. Ramer went 1-for-1 with two runs while Reitmeyer and Arsenault each recorded a stolen base.
- Grizzaffi wrapped up game two with three RBIs after going 2-for-4 at the plate along with two runs and double.
- Ryan picked up the loss for Saint Anselm after pitching for three innings allowing five earned runs on seven hits and striking out one batter. Junior Sarah DiPippo (Cranston, R.I.) checked into the game to throw the last three innings allowing two earned runs off three hits and giving up zero walks.
- Payton Doiron earned the win after throwing all seven innings allowing four earned runs on five hits along with five punchouts.
