HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Senior Natalie Tulchinsky (Clifton Park, N.Y.) tested the Eagles goalie Grace Glasrud early with a wrist shot that she was able to save in the opening minute of the game. The Hawks continued to apply pressure on the Eagles defense rifling off another nine shot attempts featuring another six saves from Glasrud. At the 10:59 mark of the first period, Noa Farberman blasted a shot into the top right corner to put Post ahead 1-0.
  • A few minutes later, Tulchinksy answered for Saint Anselm at the 15:12 mark firing the puck past Glasrud off the helper from senior Claire Weber (Marshfield, Mass.) to even the score up at 1-1 before the first intermission.
  • The Hawks came out strong in the second period outshooting their opponents by a 13-5 margin for the first 10 minutes of the period. Freshman goalie Courtney Stagman (Andover, Minn.) produced a pair of saves along with a block by junior Heather McAvoy (Long Beach, N.Y.) to keep the Eagles off the scoresheet.
  • At the 11:35 mark, Tristan Currie was whistled for a holding penalty earning the Hawks their first power play chance of the afternoon. Saint Anselm registered 10 total shots with the extra skater featuring three shots apiece from Tulchinsky and senior Brinna Martin (St. Michael, Minn.) however Post managed to fend off the Hawks power play. Saint Anselm continued to push their attack ripping nine straight shots late in the period, but the game remained locked at 1-1 heading into the final period of the contest.
  • Schneirderhan kickstarted the scoring in the third period after stealing the puck from an Eagles defender and firing a shot into the upper left shelf to put the Hawks up 2-1. A couple of minutes after Schneirderhan's goal, Tulchinsky tallied her second score of the day with a turnaround shot to make it 3-1 Hawks.
  • At the 5:45 mark of the third period, Weber notched her 11th score of the season after lasering a shot into the back of the net to extend Saint Anselm's lead to 4-1 in the opening six minutes of the final period. Around the midway point of the period, Post earned their first power play of the afternoon and produced five shots, four of which Stagman saved, to kill off the Eagles power play. Saint Anselm continued to dominate possession in their attacking zone as the game winded down. With about two minutes left in the period, Post picked up a late power play chance and pulled their goalie to make it a six versus four advantage.
  • Shortly after Stagman denied a quick shot from Tymmarie Grom, Schneiderhan pounced on a miscontrolled Eagles puck dishing it down the ice into the empty net to make it 5-1. Then with under a minute left in the game, Schneiderhan stole the puck at the redline and made a nifty move past a Post defender to secure her hat trick and seal the victory for Saint Anselm by a final score of 6-1.
