Saint Anselm (9-5, 8-2 NE10) returned to the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Division II National Coaches Poll this past week, checking in as the No. 9 team in the nation after winning seven of its last eight games.
Molloy (1-12, 0-9 NE10) has lost 12 games in a row since opening the year with a 3-2 win at home against Southern Connecticut State. The Lions are an associate member of the NE10 in the sport of field hockey, joining the league in 2019 just a few years after starting its varsity program in 2016.
The Hawks will honor six senior student-athletes and one graduate student as part of the team's Senior Day festivities prior to the game.
Those honored include Shelby Dunn (Yarmouthport, Mass.), Maggie Malloy (Canton, Mass.), Joanna Archambault (Andover, Mass.), Lauren Mauretti (Somerset, Mass.), Avery Tucker (Westbrook, Maine), Maddison LeBeau (Westbrook, Maine) and Jackie Gaumer (Thornton, N.H.).
SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Junior forward Maddie Davis (Exeter, N.H.) was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference's Player of the Week on Monday. She tied for the team lead with nine points this past week, scoring four goals with one assist for nine points.
- With two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist against Franklin Pierce on Wednesday, Davis scored twice more at American International on Saturday to extend her point streak to four games. Nationally, Davis ranks third in NCAA Division II with 0.64 assists per game and her 1.36 points per game places her seventh in the NE10.
- Malloy tied Davis for the team lead with nine points, scoring four goals and an assist for nine points alongside one game-winning goal. She scored three of her team's six goals against Franklin Pierce at home on Wednesday before logging a goal and an assist versus American International on the road last time out.
- Logging one game-winning goal last week, Malloy now has eight goals and 19 points in her last four games. Malloy's 31 points (13-5=31) to date this season are the fourth-most in single season history.
- The Hawks enter Saturday's fixture with 15 shutouts in the team's last 23 victories dating back to last season. Since the start of the 2019 season, the Hawks have posted 35 shutouts, including 20 in 2019 to set the NCAA Division II record.
- When playing at home in the friendly confines of Grappone Stadium, Saint Anselm has produced a 64-10 (.865) record since the start of the 2015 campaign. Since the 2018 season, the Hawks have lost just six out of their 41 games played at home and only four of those defeats have come in regulation time.
SCOUTING MOLLOY
- The Lions have scored just one goal across its last five games, most recently posting a 2-0 shutout loss at home against No. 6-ranked Assumption on Senior Day.
- Molloy has posted double-digit shot totals in just one game on the year and have been held under five shot attempts in 10 games so far this season.
- Devin Harkins and Gianna Mastrocco each lead the team with three goals for six points (3-0=6) with Alexa Denis not far off with a goal and an assist for three points (1-1=3).
- All three of the team's netminders have appeared in at least 200 minutes of game play. Kelsey Price leads the way with a .739 save percentage.
ALL-TIME vs. MOLLOY
- Saint Anselm holds a 2-0 record in the all-time series, winning by a combined scoring margin of 15-1.
- Last time out, the Hawks came away with a 7-1 victory at Molloy on Oct. 23, 2021.
- Molloy was held without a shot in the first-ever meeting on Sept. 21, 2019 and in last season's win, the Lions were kept to just three shot attempts.
