SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie with Saint Michael's College in New England Women's Hockey Alliance action on Saturday.
After the contest, the Hawks are now 8-10-3 overall and 5-4-3 in NEWHA play. The Purple Knights go to 2-13-1 on the season and 0-9-1 in conference play. The Hawks are back in action on Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29 in a home-and-home series with Franklin Pierce University for Pink in the Rink weekend.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes of play, the Purple Knights would strike first at 2:58 of the second period.

Saint Anselm fired 30 shots on goal in the second period alone but could not capitalize on the opportunities.

With the game tied at one and time expired in the third period, the teams headed to a five-minute three-on-three overtime. The Hawks controlled the pace in the overtime period and fired five shots on White with a scoring chance coming on a near breakaway by sophomore
Savannah Popick (South Windsor, Conn.).
With just over two minutes remaining in overtime, Golini managed to walk out of the corner and fire a shot on White from the right circle. She followed up her chance and placed the ensuing rebound on net that White also turned aside.
The best scoring opportunity in overtime came in the final seconds as Meyers won the race to a loose puck in the neutral zone and went in on a breakaway. With the defense closing, she was forced to shoot and saw her attempt denied by White.
The Hawks were scoreless on six power play opportunities while the Purple Knights were zero-for-three.
Lalande drew her second start on the season and is now 1-0-1 after making 10 saves on 11 shots on goal. White stopped 66 of 67 shots on goal for the Purple Knights.
