MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College women's ice hockey team plays its first road contests of the New Year when the team heads to Saint Michael's College in New England Women's Hockey Alliance weekend series on Friday, Jan. 21 and Saturday, Jan. 22.

The Hawks handed Long Island University its first conference loss of the season on Saturday, grabbing a 5-2 win after skating to a 1-1 tie in the team's first contest of the new year. Saint Anselm is now 7-10-2 on the season with a 4-4-2 mark in the league. Saint Anselm is unbeaten in its last four contests, dating back to Nov. 28 which was a 1-0 win over Dartmouth. After heading to Saint Michael's, the Hawks playing a home-and-home series with Franklin Pierce University. Saint Anselm is celebrating Pink in the Rink against the Ravens on Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29.
The Purple Knights are playing the first contest of 2022 after having four games postponed. The last time out for Saint Michael's came on Dec. 11, resulting in a 7-0 loss at Hamilton College. The Purple Knights are 2-12-0 overall and 0-8-0 in NEWHA play. Saint Michael's hosts LIU on Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29.

SCOUTING SAINT ANSELM
- Junior goaltender Allie Kelley (East Berne, N.Y.) was named the NEWHA Player of the Week after making 85 saves on 88 shots on goal in the 1-0-1 weekend for the Hawks. Kelley is the single-season record holder for most saves in a Saint Anselm uniform, eclipsing the 600-save mark for the season in Friday's tie. After posting 85 saves in the two game set, she needs just 22 saves to cross the 700-save threshold.
- Kelley ranks third in the NEWHA in save percentage (.931), fourth in goals-against average (2.89), and first in total saves (678). The junior has made at least 40 saves in 10 games this season
- Freshman Madi Ressler (Brighton, Mich.) collected her second NEWHA Defensive Player of the Week after recording her second goal of the season in Saturday's win. She added four blocked shots and posted a plus-two on-ice rating. Ressler ranks second on the team in points (2-4=6) when compared to other defensemen and is tied for second amongst freshmen.
- Senior captain Erin Meyers (Saint Paul, Minn.) leads the team in scoring with six goals and nine assists for 15 points. She is tied for sixth in the conference in points after recording three helpers in the two games against LIU. Senior tri-alternate captain Kelly Golini (Tewksbury, Mass.) is second on the Hawks with five goals and five assists for 10 points.
- The Hawks found the back of the net six times against the Sharks, with all six goals coming from different student-athletes.
- Saint Anselm is converting on the power play at 8.4%, having netted seven goals in 83 opportunities. The penalty kill is performing at a rate of 85.9%, allowing 12 goals on 85 times shorthanded.
SCOUTING SAINT MICHAEL'S
- The Purple Knights will play their first games since Dec. 11, marking a 7-0 loss to Hamilton College. The team had four games scheduled four games since the beginning of the new year but all four were postponed.
- Jenna Hoops leads the team in scoring with four goals while Angelina Ruiz and Ella Saracco are tied for second on the team with three goals each.
- Jenna Harrison and Mikaela Langbacka are tied for the Purple Knights' lead with five assists each.
- Harrison (1-5=6) and Hoops (4-2=6) are tied for the team lead with six points each. Langbacka, Ruiz, and Saracco each have five points, good for a tie for a third on the team.
- Leah White and Carissa Mudrak have split time in goal for the Purple Knights with White drawing seven starts while Mudrak has six. White is 2-5-0 on the season with a .907 save percentage and a 4.33 goals-against average. Mudrak holds a .879 save percentage and a 5.04 goals against.
- Saint Michael's is six-for-62 on the power play, converting at 9.7%. The team has allowed 12 goals in 44 times shorthanded, good for a penalty kill percentage of 72.7.
ALL-TIME vs. SAINT MICHAEL'S
- The weekend series will be the 45th and 46th meetings in the all-time series. Saint Anselm is 43-0-1 against the Purple Knights.
- During the 2019-20 season, the Hawks posted a 3-0-1 record over the Purple Knights. Saint Anselm did not allow a goal to Saint Michael's in the four-games, grabbing wins on Nov. 15, 2019, Nov. 16, 2019, and Nov. 23, 2019 by 6-0, 4-0, and 3-0 scores. The final meeting came on Jan. 14, 2020, resulting in a scoreless tie.
- Until the tie, the Hawks had won each tilt starting from the first matchup on Dec. 3, 2004.
