DAVENPORT, Fla. – The nationally-ranked Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team defeated Saint Thomas Aquinas, 19-9, on Saturday at Northeast Regional Park.

Complete statistics for the game are unavailable at the present time.

The Hawks, who are ranked 25th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), improve to 4-0 on the season. Saint Anselm ended the Spartans undefeated season, falling to 4-1.

Junior Annie Richards (Reading, Mass.) led the squad with six points, three of them coming off goals. Richards, senior Breda Holland (Londonderry, N.H.) and sophomore Jenna Balboni (Billerica, Mass.) registered hat tricks in the contest.

The Hawks started the contest with six straight goals from six goal scorers which helped them build a large lead.

The Spartans responded by scoring two to cut the deficit to four goals. Saint Anselm would then take control of the game, going on a 7-1 stretch which included two goals from Balboni.

Heading into the halftime locker room, the Hawks held a 13-3 lead. Saint Anselm maintained the possession in the second half, despite each team scoring six goals each to finish off the game.

Junior duo Ally Irish (Scituate, Mass.) and Sarah Morey (Natick, Mass.) posted their first points of the season via goals. Freshmen Annabelle Harrington (Tyngsboro, Mass.), Ellie Richards (Reading, Mass.) and Meghan Cotraro (Beverly, Mass.) scored their first career goals in the process.

The Hawks begin Northeast-10 Conference play on Wednesday, Mar. 11 when they travel to New Haven at 4 p.m.
