Box Score

With the loss, the Hawks wrapped up the regular season in third place and will now play Post University in the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Quarterfinals on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 pm at Sullivan Arena.

The Hawks fall to 14-13-3 on the season and drop to 11-8-1 in the NEWHA. Long Island improves to 11-9-0 on the season in NEWHA play with an 11-18-0 mark overall.

Prior to the game, the Hawks honored seniors Michaela Kane (Haverhill, Mass.), Haley Marshall (Hull, Mass.), Amanda Conger (Swanton, Vt.), Kaley Campbell (Colchester, Vt.), Jamie Gottwald (Easton, Mass.), and Megan Klaus (State College, Pa.) for their careers at Saint Anselm.

The game opened with nine straight minutes without stoppage before the Sharks opened up the scoring on the night with a goal from Megan Bouveur on a rebound in front of the net at 18:20. Matilda Af Bjur and Carrigan Umpherville were credited with the assist on the play. It was the first of a three-point performance for Umpherville.

The next two goals belonged to Saint Anselm, both coming off the stick of Campbell. Coming off the power play, Campbell found herself in front of the net twice at the right time to squeeze the puck past the goaltender. She recorded her 81st point and 36th goal of her career. Campbell recorded the team's first power-play goal in the last eight games.

The first goal came midway through the second period, with sophomore Kelly Golini (Tewksbury Mass.) and Klaus each notching a point with an assist. The second goal from Campbell was assited by Klaus with 14:40 left in the third period.

The Sharks responded within a minute, tying the game thanks to a slapshot from the right flank as Umpherville netted the goal. Umpherville found the back of the net again with eight minutes left off a faceoff in the Hawks zone. Af Bjur won the faceoff and Umpherville backhanded the puck into the net. A chance for the Hawks came with 22 seconds left in regulation as a number of chances came off of rebounds in front of the net but the puck never found its way past goaltender Kenzie Harmison.

Alva Johnson tacked on an empty-netter from the blue line with 11 seconds left to secure the win for the Sharks. Harmison notched 33 saves on the night, while her counterpart, Kane, finished with 27 stops.
