ORLANDO, Fla. – Facing a team that has won back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championships, the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by ASA Miami in an exhibition match on Saturday afternoon at Lake Cane Tennis Center.
ASA Miami won the six singles matches at the loss of 14 games total. The No. 6 singles match between Jose Giler and Benji Page was the closest of the afternoon, with Giler edging Page in a first-set tiebreak before going on to claim a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory. Kyle Harris won two games in both sets of his match against Masato Naganuma at No. 5 singles.
The Silver Storm also won all three doubles matches, with the Hawks putting nine games on the board. Adam Weinstein and Brian Kavanagh pushed Alvaro Morales and Wataru Uchida to extend their eight-game pro set but fell 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.
Saint Anselm returns home and to Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, March 17 when the Hawks travel to Merrimack for a 4:30 p.m. start.
