MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Saint Anselm College men's tennis team completed its spring season with an 8-1 defeat to regionally-ranked Merrimack College in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday at South Tennis Courts.

Kyle Harris recorded his sixth-straight victory at No. 5 singles for Saint Anselm (4-14, 1-8 NE10), but Merrimack (9-8, 7-2 NE10) was victorious in the other eight matches to defeat the Hawks. The Warriors were ranked sixth in the East Region in the latest Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
Harris ran his winning streak to six matches by recovering from a set down to defeat Alex Slobin by a 1-6, 6-4, 12-10 scoreline. Harris finished the season as the team leader in singles victories and NE10 singles wins with an 11-7 overall record and a 6-3 mark in the NE10.
Merrimack started the day with a doubles sweep to take charge early. Brian Kavanagh and Brian Madden saw their two-match winning streak snapped by Slobin and Tayyab Sheikh in an 8-5 setback at No. 3 doubles in the closest of the three doubles matches.
The Warriors claimed straight-set victories at the top-four singles spots and got a marathon win from Tayyab Sheikh at No. 6 singles to wrap up the victory. Sheikh outlasted Benji Page 7-5, 5-7, 12-10 in Page's second-straight match to go to a super tiebreaker.
With a roster of six juniors, two sophomores and one freshman, the Hawks are slated to return all nine players on their roster next season.
