ORLANDO, Fla. – Adam Weinstein was victorious at No. 2 singles for the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team in an 8-1 defeat against the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras on Tuesday at the United States Tennis Association National Campus.

Weinstein recorded his second-straight victory at the second spot by taking a close first set before cruising through the second for a 7-5, 6-0 win over Andres Lopez. The match was the first for Saint Anselm (3-6) of its trip to Florida and its second of the spring season.
Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches. The closest match of the three came at No. 3 doubles, where Jan Suria and Alejandro Rodriguez edged Brian Kavanagh and Brian Madden 8-5. The tandems of Diego Orro and Moises Laudrau and Jose de Jesus and Lopez also picked up wins.
Outside of Weinstein's victory, Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras earned five straight-set singles wins. Brian Madden battled Wilfredo Negron at No. 6 singles before falling 6-2, 6-4, while Eric Howes went down 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot.
Saint Anselm is back in action at the USTA National Campus on Wednesday, March 8 at 4 p.m. against Wayne State. The USTA National Campus, which opened this year and has been dubbed the new "Home of American Tennis," features 100 courts spread over 64 acres.
