POMFRET, Conn. – The Saint Anselm College men's tennis team was defeated 9-0 by Nichols College on Saturday afternoon at Pomfret School.

Blake Norton, Brandon Howard, James Smith and Guilherme Barbosa were all victorious in both singles and doubles for Nichols (4-2). Saint Anselm (3-9) was playing its fourth match in five days following three-straight matches in Orlando.
Norton and Howard edged Eric Howes and Kyle Harris 8-6 at No. 1 doubles and Nichols got wins from Smith and Barbosa and Igor Markowski and Kiril Ivanov at the other two flights.
In singles, Brian Kavanagh dropped a pair of tight sets to Smith at No. 3 singles, falling 6-4, 7-5. Daniel Kmetz dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Howard at No. 2 singles. Norton, Barbosa and Donaldson also recorded straight-set singles wins for Nichols, while Zapatka topped Kyle Harris 8-3 at No. 5 singles.
Saint Anselm hosts Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play on Saturday, March 18 at noon.
