Three different goal scorers lead #8 Field Hockey past Mercy, 3-1

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The No. 8 Saint Anselm College field hockey team picked up its fifth-straight win with a 3-1 victory at Mercy College on Sunday afternoon in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.

The Hawks improve to 5-1 overall with the win, and return to Northeast-10 Conference action on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against cross-town rival Southern New Hampshire University. Mercy falls to 1-3 with the setback.

Allia Connolly (Westford, Mass.) scored her fourth goal of the season – and third goal in the past two days – to put the Hawks on top 1-0 in the 27th minute of the game. Rose Mooney (North Attleborough, Mass.) scored her second goal in as many days on a penalty stroke in the 31st minute to give Saint Anselm a 2-0 lead headed into the half.

Jackie Guillemette (North Waterboro, Maine) finished off the scoring for the Hawks with a tally in the 63rd minute to put the game out of reach. Jen Wandle would score for Mercy on a penalty stroke with no time remaining on the clock to give the game its final score of 3-1.

Emma Kincaid (West Bridgewater, Mass.) picked up an assist on Connolly's goal, while Mary Nee (Canton, Mass.) had a helper on Guillemette's tally. Katherine Sears (Northboro, Mass.) improved to 5-1 this year by making three saves.

Julia Amell and Cheradyn Pettit split time in the cage for Mercy, with Amell suffering the setback despite making five saves. Pettit added three saves, while Marissa Spinazzola registering a pair of defensive saves.
