PHILADELPHIA – Sophomore Brian Kavanagh (Wilbraham, Mass.) won a pair of B singles matches before being toppled in the round of 16 Sunday at the USTA/ITA East Region Championship at the Legacy Tennis Center.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Kavanagh took out Merrimack College's Thomas O'Brien, 6-3, in the opening round and then defeated Post University's Jonathyn Young, 6-4, in the second round. Kavanagh's run came to an end with a 6-2 loss to Daemen College's Mark Veitengruber in the third round.
WHAT ELSE HAPPENED?
- Sophomores Eric Howes (Shawnee, Kan.) and Kyle Harris (No. Reading, Mass.) were both ousted in the first round of singles play via respective 6-2 losses to Saint Thomas Aquinas College's Roger Almato and Hugo Preussler-Teixeira.
