Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Men's Tennis Doubled Up by Franklin Pierce, 6-3, in Season Finale

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman Alex Pearson (Kennebunk, Maine) won both of his matches, but the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team ended its campaign with a 6-3 loss to Franklin Pierce on Saturday at the Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.

The Hawks wrap up their season at 2-9 overall, including 2-8 in Northeast-10 play, while the Ravens end their year at 2-10, 2-8 NE-10.

Pearson and fellow freshman Robert Patenaude (Augusta, Maine) posted an 8-3 victory against Aras Banevicius and Logan Sherwood in No. 3 doubles play, before Person beat Banevicius, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5 singles.

Fellow freshman Benji Page (Concord, Mass.) earned the other Saint Anselm point as he dispatched Sherwood, 6-3, 6-2, in No. 6 singles.

The first two doubles matches proved to be tipping points for the Ravens as freshman Adam Weinstein (Vernon Rockville, Conn.) and Eric Howes (Shawnee, Kan.) were edged by Christopher Brewer and Jared Taylor, 9-8 (7-5), in No. 1 doubles and fellow freshmen Kyle Harris (No. Reading, Mass.) and Brian Kavanagh (Wilbraham, Mass.) fell to Mark Petrie and Drew Bennett by the same 9-8 score, with a 7-4 tiebreak, at No. 2 doubles.
