ENDICOTT, N.Y. – Sophomore Tad Link (Newington, Conn.) posted a team-best 10-over par 154, including a three-over 75 on his second round to led the Saint Anselm College golf team to a seventh place finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship tournament, concluding Monday afternoon at En-Joie Golf Club in Endicott, N.Y.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• After his consecutive rounds of 79 Sunday and 75 Monday, Link led the Hawks in his third straight appearance. His two-day total of 154 finished 18th among the 50 individuals competing in the tournament.
• Freshmen Billy Argus (Canton, Mass.) and Stephen Hunt (Wilbraham, Mass.) posted matching five-over-par rounds of 77 Monday, with Argus finishing the tournament tied for 30th place with a 158 overall and Hunt right behind him in 32nd overall with cards totaling 159.
• After matching Link with a team-best Sunday round of 79, junior Jack Ball (Duxbury, Mass.) dropped to 42nd place after a tough round of 88 Monday morning.
• Sophomore Nick Carter (South Easton, Mass.) rounded out the Saint Anselm squad for the two-day tournament, posting rounds of 86 to fall into 43rd place.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
• Saint Anselm finished in seventh place with a team score of 636 overall. The Hawks placed 10 strokes behind Franklin Pierce University and broke a Sunday tie with American International College, as the YellowJackets finished with a total of 645 after Monday's round.
• Southern New Hampshire University and Le Moyne College finished Monday's round tied with matching team scores of 581, with the Penmen clinching the 2015 NE-10 Championship in a tiebreaker. Bentley dropped one spot to third place with a team score of 584.
• Le Moyne's John Clare took home medalist honors with two rounds of 70, edging Bentley's Brett Chatfield (141) and SNHU's Gavin Dugas (142).
NOTES
• Saint Anselm posted its highest team finish since also landing in seventh two seasons ago. In 2014, the Hawks finished in 9th place in the 10-team championship.
UP NEXT
• The Hawks will have a short week to prepare for the Saint Rose Shootout this upcoming weekend, traveling to Pinehaven Country Club in Guilderland, N.Y., for the Friday-Saturday outing. Saint Anselm will round out its fall slate at Franklin Pierce the following weekend before capping off October at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship.
