Daly, Villareal Highlight Six NE-10 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Selections

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – Junior Marissa Daly (Marshfield, Mass.) and sophomore Caitlin Villareal (Portsmouth, R.I.) of the 12th-ranked Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team highlighted six Northeast-10 All-Conference honorees with First Team selections, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

Junior Kelly Pickett (Chelmsford, Mass.), sophomores Erin Marshall (Woburn, Mass.) and Jane Bunn (St. John's, Fla) and freshman Liv Connly (Fiskdale, Mass.) were all chosen for the Second Team.

Daly, who earned Second Team honors a year ago, has amassed 73 points on 59 goals and 14 assists in 15 games this season. She ranks second in the conference in goals, fourth in points and 18th in assists. The Northeast-10's Player of the Week on March 31, Daly is within reach of Saint Anselm's single-season records for goals and points, as she needs nine scores and 19 points to set new marks. Daly, who has taken 99 shots, including 88 on goal, has scored on 88.9 percent of the shots she takes that end up on goal, which far and away leads the league among anyone with at least 40 shots.

Nationally, Daly, who collected her 200th-career point in a 10-5 win against Saint Michael's College on April 16, places eighth in goals per game (3.93), 11th in goals, 29th in points, 76th in assists per game (0.93) and 88th in helpers.

Villareal has come off a Second Team rookie campaign to total 61 points on 45 goals and 16 assists. She leads the league in free-position goals (18), ranks fifth in points, ninth in goals and 16th in assists. Nationally, Villareal is 33rd in goals per game (3.00), 48th in goals, 55th in points, 70th in assists per contest (1.07) and 73rd in assists. Villareal reached the 100-point plateau for her career in a 16-13 win at Stonehill College on April 22.

Pickett is in the midst of a breakout year for the Hawks as she has scored 30 goals and handed out 20 assists for 50 points. She ranks 12th in the Northeast-10 in assists, 15th in points and 20th in goals. She is 48th in the nation in assists per game (1.33), as well as 51st in assists and 95th in points. Pickett, who also joined the 100-point club in the win at Stonehill, has captured 28 draw controls, scooped up 22 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers.

Marshall has also blossomed into a key member of the Saint Anselm offense during her sophomore season as she has registered 42 points on 27 goals and 15 assists. She is 17th in the league in assists, 22nd in points and 24th in goals, while ranking fifth in both draw controls (52) and caused turnovers (24). Marshall is 76th in the country in assists per game (1.00) and 81st in assists.

Bunn has helped backbone the Hawks' high-powered offense and solid defense all season in net. She has produced a record of 11-3 to go along with an 8.18 goals-against average and a .500 save percentage. Bunn paces the conference in save percentage, while ranking second in wins, fourth in both GAA and winning percentage (.786) and ninth in saves (83). The April 29 Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week, Bunn places eighth in save percentage, 13th in GAA, 58th in saves and 65th in saves per contest (5.53).

Connly, who also garnered a spot on the All-Rookie Team, has been instrumental in helping Bunn to protect the goal. The first-year defender has started all 15 games and helped to anchor a defense that has allowed just 8.33 goals per game. Connly has one point on a free-positional goal that came in a 20-8 victory against Franklin Pierce on April 2.

The third-seeded Hawks return to action Wednesday, April 30 at 4 p.m. as they play host to sixth-seeded Bentley University in Northeast-10 Championship first round action at Grappone Stadium.
