Women's Hockey Responds with 3-0 Shutout of Southern Maine

GORHAM, Maine – Sophomore forward Alison Quinn (Canton, Mass.) notched a pair of goals in the first four minutes Saturday afternoon as the Saint Anselm women's hockey team finished up its first road trip of the year with a 3-0 shutout of Southern Maine at USM Ice Arena.

After a stinging loss Friday night at Holy Cross, Saint Anselm responded with a dominant opening stanza, converting on three of the team's eight shots on goal in the first period alone.

Quinn's first goal of the game and third of the season came off assists from Sarah Geisinger (Willoughby, Ohio) and Alex Starzyk (Enfield, Conn.) at the 1:26 mark of the first period.

Just two minutes and 25 seconds later, sophomore defenseman Martha Findley (Duxbury, Mass.) tallied her second assist of the season on Quinn's second goal of the game.

Junior forward Jessica Galiczewski (Kings Park, N.Y.) capped off the scoring on the day with her first goal of the year at the 15:15 mark of that first period. Sophomore defenseman Victoria Shea (Middleton, Mass.) recorded the only assist on Galiczewski's goal—also her first of the year.

Defensive play dictated the final two periods as neither team was able to put one away for the duration of the game. The Hawks went 0-for-2 on power play opportunities while holding Southern Maine (1-3, 1-3 ECAC East) scoreless on its three penalty chances.

Senior goaltender Lindsey Brown (Mounds View, Minn.) took the win between the pipes Saturday, picking up 11 saves. She improves to 3-0 and posts her second shutout this season, upping her save percentage to .973 on the year.

The Hawks will return to Sullivan Arena for a pair of weekend Saint Anselm hockey double-headers, hosting the Beacons of Massachusetts-Boston Friday and Nichols College Saturday. Both contests will be the first half of a double-header with the men's program.
