MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior William Condon (Mansfield, Mass.) and freshman John Joyce (Juneau, Alaska) each won a pair of matches, but the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team was edged by the College of the Holy Cross, 5-4, Friday afternoon in non-conference action at the Carr Center Tennis Courts.
The Hawks drop to 3-9 on the season, while the Crusaders pick up their first win to improve to 1-9.
Condon was victorious in his No. 2 doubles match against Connor McCann, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3, and also teamed with sophomore Kyle White (Cambridge, Mass.) for an 8-6 win against Ryan Sullivan and McCann in No. 1 doubles.
Joyce defeated Rob Buetti, 6-2, 6-3, in No. 5 doubles and posted a 9-7 victory against Tom Casavant and Buetti in No. 3 doubles, playing with senior Matthew Greeke (So. Hamilton, Mass.).
The Hawks wrap up the season Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. when they travel to take on Franklin Pierce University.
