MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman Nick Schwab (South Huntington, N.Y.) won a pair of matches to lead the Saint Anselm College men's tennis team to a 7-2 victory against Colby-Sawyer College in the team's season opener Sunday at the Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.
Schwab dispatched Reeve Fidler, 6-2, 6-2, in No. 2 singles play and also teamed up with senior Alex Schultheis (Cranston, R.I.) to defeat Fidler and Nolan Foley, 8-1, in the No. 1 doubles spot.
Junior Joe Zucchi (Methuen, Mass.) downed Foley, 6-1, 6-2, in No. 3 singles play, while juniors Will Condon (Mansfield, Mass.) and Michael Hanna (Southborough, Mass.) each won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, beating Eric Caples and Zac Skyrme, respectively.
Senior Liam Concannon (Boston, Mass.) won his No. 6 singles match by default, while he and Hanna won their No. 3 doubles match by default, as well.
The Hawks return to action when they open conference play by playing host to Bentley University on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m.
