#2 Le Moyne Sinks Women's Lacrosse, 16-3

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Meghan Smith (Pittsford, N.Y.) scored two goals, but the Saint Anselm College women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-3 loss to No. 2 Le Moyne College on Saturday afternoon at Grappone Stadium.

The Hawks fall to 2-8 on the season, including 2-6 in Northeast-10 play, while the Dolphins improve to 11-1, 7-1 NE-10.

Saint Anselm jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when sophomore Kaleigh Hunt (Sudbury, Mass.) scored her second goal of the season just 2:11 into the contest. It was all Dolphins from there, however, as Le Moyne scored 14 unanswered goals to take a 14-1 lead at the 22:54 mark of the second half.

Smith netted her 30th and 31st goals of the season at the 21:34 and 16:06 marks, respectively, but Le Moyne answered each tally to make it 16-3.

Senior Katherine O'Hara (Norwell, Mass.) made eight saves, while Kelly Fucillo stopped seven shots for Le Moyne.

Brittany Brigandi posted four goals, while Brenna Bauer and Michelle Phillips each scored three times.

The Dolphins outshot the Hawks, 32-12, including 21-4 in the first half. Saint Anselm held an 11-10 edge in draw controls, but turned the ball over 21 times, while Le Moyne only committed seven turnovers. The Dolphins were also 5-for-5 on their free-position opportunities, while the Hawks were 0-for-4.

The Hawks return to action Wednesday, April 20 at 6 p.m. when they travel to take on Franklin Pierce University.
