EASTON, MASS.
– The Saint Anselm women's lacrosse team
travelled to Easton, Mass., this evening to take on the Skyhawks of
Stonehill College in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup. The
Hawks struggled under the lights, as the second-place Skyhawks ran
away with a 20-7 victory. Five yellow cards were handed out
in the rough competition. The win lifts the Skyhawks to 7-1
(5-1 NE-10), while the Hawks fall to 3-4 (1-3 NE-10).
The Hawks struck first just
under five minutes into the game, when Shawna Walsh
(Woburn, Mass.) netted an unassisted goal to put the Hawks
up 1-0. Jackie Ladino tied the game less
than a minute later, but Bryanna Hayes (Mansfield,
Mass.) pushed the Hawks back in front with a free position
shot at 20:34. The Skyhawks scored four unanswered goals over
the next seven minutes to take a 5-2 lead, and the Hawks were then
outscored 8-2 in the final 13 minutes of the period for a 13-4
Skyhawk lead at the half.
The Skyhawks extended their
scoring streak to 10 goals at 17:12 in the second half, before
Lauren Alfis (Hanover, Mass.) and Meghan
Smith (Pittsford, N.Y.) scored two free position shots for
the Hawks. Smith scored one more goal at 4:08, but the Hawks
fell to the Skyhawks by a final score of 20-7.
Sarah
Galligan led the competition with five goals and an assist
for six points. Sam Lynott also had a
six-point game, notching three goals and three assists, and
Kayla Green netted four more for the
Skyhawks. Meghan Smith led the Hawks in scoring, recording
three of the Hawks' seven goals.

Katherine O'Hara (Norwell, Mass.) made 15
saves in today's competition, while Rebecca
Moore stopped just four shots.
The Hawks return to action
on Saturday, April 10th, when they take on the Yellow Jackets of
American International College in a Northeast-10 Conference matchup
beginning at 4:00 pm.
