Easton, Mass. -- Led by freshman Kevin Soucey (Windham, N.H.) and junior Bianca Ciuffredo (Worcester, Mass.), the Saint Anselm men's and women's cross country teams took part in the 2010 Northeast-10 Conference Cross Country Championships on Sunday morning, hosted by Stonehill College.

Soucey led the men's team with a 54th-place finish, running a 5:25 pace for a time of 26:56. Ciuffredo was the top women's finisher in 21st-place in a time of 19:17. Running at a 6:12 pace, Ciuffredo earned Third Team All-Conference honors for her performance.

On the men's side, the Hawks finished ninth with 302 points, while UMass Lowell took the men's team title with a total of 50 points. Following Soucey was senior Drew Matthews (Madison, Conn.) in 58th place in 27:04, followed by co-captain John Surabian (Saugus, Mass.) in 78th place in 27:46. Finishing just two seconds behind Surabian was fellow co-captain Christopher Powers (Haverhill, Mass.) in 80th with a time of 27:48.

For the women's team, the Hawks finished in a tie for eighth place with Le Moyne with a total of 232 points, while Stonehill claimed the team title with 56 points. Following Ciuffredo was freshman Katharine Meinertz (Smithfield, R.I.) in 44th place in a time of 19:57, finishing as the 11th freshman in the championship. Classmates Joanna Marczyk (Stratford, Conn.) and Stephanie Kearsley (Manchester, N.H.) also placed in the top-70 as Marczyk crossed in 55th and Kearsley in 67th place. Marczyk finished in 20:14, while Kearsley finished in 20:32.

Saint Anselm returns to action on Sunday, November 21st as the Hawks travel to Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. for the NCAA Regionals.
