Brewster, Mass. (October 19th) - - The Saint
Anselm golf team was in action today to play in the second round of
the NEIGA Championship. The Hawks tied for seventh place overall
and won the New England Division II title after shooting a two-day
score of 617. In the second round, the Hawks shot a school record
300, propeling them past AIC to win the title.
With the win, Saint Anselm claimed the school's first New
England Golf title. The seventh place overall finish
marked the Hawks highest standing in the tournament since 1979,
when the team finished in third place.
Nicholas
Maccario (Bradford, Mass.) shot a second-round
72, and two-round score of 148. He finished in 10th place,
making him the Division II medalist and an All-New
England selection.
Emilio Bardini (Salem, Mass.) shot a one-over par 73,
and two-day score of 154, placing him in 33rd place overall.
Brian
Foley (Worcester, Mass.) shot a 76, with a two-day
score of 156, which was good enough for 44th place. Tyler Fay
(Barrington, R.I.) and Joseph
Fitzsimmons (Marshfield, Mass.) each shot a 79, giving
Fay a two-day score of 160, and Fitzsimmons a 159. Fitzsimmons
score placed him in 69th, and Fay's score was good for 73rd.
The tournament was the last tournament of the fall season for
the Hawks.
