Manchester, N.H. (September 30) -- On a
blustery Wednesday afternoon, the Saint Anselm field hockey team
dropped a 5-1 home decision to No. 8 ranked Bentley University in
Northeast-10 Conference play.
The Falcons came out firing in the first half as Hawk goalie
Linsday MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.) had to make 11
saves in the period. Bentley did find the net twice though as
Abbie DeMusis (Guilford, Conn.) and
Allison St. Jean (Lebanon, Maine) each scored
unassisted goals for a 2-0 halftime edge.
In the second half, the Falcons built the lead to 3-0 on
Courtney Bartlett's (Brunswick, Maine) seventh
goal of the season. Saint Anselm answered 1:28 later as senior
Maddie Cantarow (Norwood, Mass.) scored her
team-best third goal of the year to make it a 3-1 game. That goal
was assisted on by sophomore Caitlin Hurley (Cape
Elizabeth, Maine).
Bentley added a pair of goals later in the period though as
Beth Maguire (Medfield, Mass.) scored her first
career goal and Stephanie Sideris (Watertown,
Mass.) added her seventh of the season for the 5-1 final.
MacDonald finished with 11 saves, while Bentley netminder
Alyssa Sliney (Brewster, Mass.) made two saves for
her eighth win of the season.
With the loss, the Hawks are now 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the
Northeast-10, while the Falcons improve to 8-3 overall and are 3-1
