Manchester, N.H. (April 4)-In a game that
featured six Hawks with multiple goals, The Saint Anselm College
women's lacrosse team defeated the American International College
Yellow Jackets 19-7 Saturday afternoon at Grappone Stadium. The win
lifts the Hawks to 3-6 on the year and 2-3 in NE-10 play, while the
loss drops AIC to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in league play.
The Hawks started the scoring right away on a goal from junior
attack Alyson McDonough
(Brunswick,
Maine) less than thirty seconds
into the game. AIC's Kara Kirkland
(Plymouth,
Mass.) would score less than five
minutes in to cut the lead to 2-1, but that is as close as they
would get as Saint Anselm, who led by as many as twelve, would take
a 15-5 lead into halftime on a goal from sophomore attack
Emily Traicoff (Beverly, Mass.) with 29 seconds
left.
The second half only featured a combined six goals, with four
going for the Hawks, as Saint Anselm would pull away with a 19-7
NE-10 victory.
The Hawks were led in scoring by senior attack Michaela
Rocha (Rye,
N.H.) with her four goal and four
assist effort, while sophomore Courtney Ford
(Concord,
Mass.) pitched in with four goals
and an assist.
Saint Anselm netminder Katherine O'Hara
(Norwell,
Mass.) made eight saves and
allowed only four goals in the win, while Yellow Jacket goalie
Gina Gallo

Mass.) made 16 saves and allowed
19 goals in the loss.
The Hawks return to action Tuesday, April 7th, as they will
travel to Saint Michael's College for a 4 p.m. start.
