Rindge, N.H. (October 21) -- Saint Anselm
jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, but was unable to hold it as
Franklin Pierce rallied for a 3-2 victory in Northeast-10
Conference action at Sodexho Field. The loss drops Saint Anselm to
1-15 overall and 0-9 in Northeast-10 Conference play.
Ellen O'Neil (Willington, Conn.) got the Hawks
on the board just 7:46 into the game, scoring on a rebound for the
early 1-0 lead. Saint Anselm added a second goal just 6:43 later as
senior Karrie Muma (No. Falmouth, Mass.) scored,
assisted by junior captain Sara Griffin (Derry,
N.H.), for a 2-0 edge. The Ravens struck at 21:55 as
Ashley Abernethy tallied her third score of the
year and the game went to halftime at 2-1 in favor of the Hawks.
In the second half, the Ravens scored twice in the first 12
minutes of the half to take a lead they would never relinquish.
Danielle Dolan tipped in her fifth goal of the
season at the 43:22 mark and Kimberly Jaksina
converted a Hawk turnover into a goal for the 3-2 victory.
Lindsay MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.) made eight
saves in the loss, while Brittany Nyzio made zero
saves in the win.
Saint Anselm concludes the 2009 season on Saturday afternoon as
the Hawks host American International for a Noon start. Prior to
the game, the Hawks will recognize the 2009 Saint Anselm Senior
Class for their contributions to the program during their careers.
