Manchester, N.H. (October 15) -- Eight
different players scored for UMass Lowell as the fifth-ranked River
Hawks pulled away for an 8-1 win over Saint Anselm on a chilly
Thursday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play.
The River Hawks got on the board just 6:04 into the game as
Sammy Macy (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored her
league-leading 20th goal of the season. Annie Hansbury
(Plaistow, N.H.) assisted on the goal and finished the
game with two assists. Senior Ashley Smith (Killingworth,
Conn.) also finished with a pair of assists.
Sara Bassett (Stoneham, Mass.) scored the lone
goal for the Hawks, her third of the season to tie for the team
lead. Freshman Maura Hurley (Holden, Mass.)
provided the assist.
Junior Amy Carbon (Bellingham, Mass.) made two
saves while playing the first half to pick up the win the River
Hawks, while Lindsay MacDonald (Dedham, Mass.)
played the first 40:17 for Saint Anselm, making four saves.
Saint Anselm is now 1-13 overall and 0-7 in the Northeast-10,
while UMass Lowell improves to 13-3 overall and 5-2 in the league.
The Hawks are back in action on Saturday, October 17th as the team
hosts American International for a Noon start.
