Worcester, Mass. (February 24) --
Andrea Berlin (Durham, N.H.) made 25 saves in her
fifth shutout of the season, but the Hawks and Holy Cross skated to
a 0-0 overtime tie on Sunday afternoon in Worcester, Mass. Saint
Anselm's record now stands at 21-2-1, 17-1-1 ECAC East, while Holy
Cross' record now stands at 15-7-3, 13-4-2 ECAC East. The tie
secures Saint Anselm's second consecutive ECAC East Regular Season
title.
The Hawks outshot Holy Cross 36-25 in the game, but neither team
managed to find the back of the net in the scoreless tie. The Hawks
also had eight power play opportunities, but failed to take
advantage of all eight. The Crusaders had three power play
opportunities, but also did not manage to take advantage of their
chances.
Berlin's 25-save performance now drops her goals against
average to 1.00 on the season, with a .944 save percentage.
Monique Gallant (Antigonish, Nova Scotia) made 36
saves between the pipes for Holy Cross, her second shutout of the
season.
The Hawks return to the ice hosting the ECAC East Open
Tournament on Saturday, March 1st. Seedings and game
times will be determined at a later date between four teams:
Saint Anselm, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, and Saint Michael's. The
tournament will span two days, Saturday, March 1st, and Sunday,
March 2nd.
