Manchester, N.H. (September 26) -- On Tuesday
afternoon, the Saint Anselm field hockey team came up short against
seventh-ranked Bentley as the Falcons defeated the Hawks by
a 3-0 final.
Bentley captain Heather Buda put the Falcons
ahead by a 1-0 final just 6:15 into the contest on her third goal
of the season. Krissy Lanzillo added her second
goal of the season at the 26:28 mark and the game appeared to be
heading into halftime at 2-0 in favor of the visitors.
However, the referee called a penalty corner for Bentley as the
first half expired, giving the Falcons one last chance. After
the Hawks turned aside one effort, the Falcons converted on their
next chance as Nicole Murphy knocked home her
sixth goal of the year for the 3-0 advantage. Saint Anselm outshot
Bentley by a 6-2 margin in the second half but were held scoreless
for the game.
Sophomore Riley Haddock (Falmouth, Maine)
turned aside nine shots in the loss. Bentley goalie Alyssa
Sliney made six saves to earn the victory.
With the loss, the Hawks fall to 3-7 overall and in Northeast-10
play. Bentley improves to 8-3 overall and is 8-1 in the league.
Saint Anselm is back in action on Saturday, September 29th as
