Manchester, N.H. (November 17) -- Cindy
Lebel's (Greenville, Maine) lone power play goal at the
9:33 mark in the second period was enough to propel the Saint
Anselm women's hockey team over No. 9 Manhattanville, 1-0, at
Sullivan Arena on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 3-0-0 on
the season, 3-0-0 ECAC East, while Manhattanville drops to 2-1-0,
2-1-0 ECAC East.
The Hawks controlled the first period with a 14-1 advantage
in shots but could not convert on any scoring opportunities.
The Hawks were on the power play for nine minutes of the
first period, but could not take advantage.
The Hawks took advantage of the first power play they went on in
the second period, as Lebel put home the puck on a scuffle in front
of the net. The goal was assisted by Kasey Cedorchuk
(Charlestown, Mass.). The goal was the only score in the
contest, with the Hawks holding on for the win, 1-0.
Andrea Berlin (Durham, N.H.) recorded the
shutout between the pipes for the Hawks, turning away 10 shots.
Sophia Kokkonis (East Meadow, N.Y.) was the
tough-luck losing goaltender, as she made 32 saves in the game.
The Hawks return to the ice on Wednesday, November 28, hosting
Colby at 7 p.m.
