MANSFIELD, MASS. – Senior Tess Malerbi (Scituate, Mass.) and freshman Emily Jacy (Glastonbury, Conn.) of the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team earned Northeast-10 Conference Player and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively, as announced on Tuesday.
Malerbi picked up a pair of victories at No. 2 singles during the Hawks trip to Florida. Against Muhlenberg on Wednesday, she posted a 3-6, 6-4, and 10-7 victory. She then swept her match against Cornerstone on Thursday with set scores of 7-5 and 6-0.
On the season, Malerbi has three wins in singles play while holding a 7-9 record in doubles action. She is 6-7 at No. 1 doubles this year, the most wins in that flight in her career. In her four years at the Hilltop, Malerbi has 22 wins in singles action and 26 victories in doubles play.
Jacy became the first Hawks player to win NE10 Rookie of the Week honors since Jess Perkins '18 did so during the 2014-15 season. Jacy won a pair of doubles matches in the top flight during the week. She and teammate junior Kaitlin Hughes (Rockland, Mass.) defeated their opponent from Muhlenberg, 6-4, on Wednesday. The duo also bested Cornerstone on Thursday at No. 1 doubles.
In her rookie season, Jacy has a 5-14 overall record in both singles and doubles play. She has gone 2-1 in the top doubles flight and won three matches at No. 4 singles.
Jacy and Malerbi, along with the rest of the Hawks, host Roberts Wesleyan at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Mar. 17 from the South Athletic Field Courts.
