Women's tennis turned away by Assumption, 6-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Kaitlin Hughes (Rockland, Mass.) of the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team picked up a win at No. 2 singles in her team's 6-1 loss to visiting Assumption College on Saturday.


The Hawks fall to 3-9 on the season and to 2-6 against Northeast-10 Conference foes. Assumption (6-2, 5-2 NE10) has won six of its first eight matches to begin the 2018 season.

Hughes earned the 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 victory, netting Saint Anselm its only point of the afternoon.

The Greyhounds won all but two games in doubles play and collected wins in five of six singles matches to earn the overall match victory.

Saint Anselm heads to Forest Park in Springfield, Mass. this Wednesday, Oct. 10 for a 3:30 p.m. tilt against American International College.
