Women's tennis handed 6-1 loss at New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Maikah Bulpitt (Cumberland, R.I.) of the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team picked up a singles victory in Sunday's 6-1 loss to the University of New Haven.

The Hawks fall to 2-5 on the season, having lost their third Northeast-10 Conference tilt of the season. New Haven moves to 3-1 overall and to 2-1 against league opponents. Saint Anselm hosts Southern New Hampshire this Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. in a Queen City Cup match.

Falling behind in the first set by a 6-4 score, Bulpitt responded with a 6-2 and 10-4 win in the second and third set, respectively, to lock down her team's lone point. The sophomore has registered two wins at No. 5 singles in her last three matches.

Bulpitt and senior Kayla Hodas (Peabody, Mass.) fought hard at No. 3 doubles, but their New Haven counterparts eked out the 7-6 (7-5) win.
