MANCHESTER, N.H. – Jess Perkins and Tess Malerbi provided all three points for the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team in a 6-3 loss to Holy Cross on Tuesday afternoon at Saint Anselm Outdoor Courts.
Perkins and Malerbi were victorious at the top two singles flights and paired up for a win at first doubles for Saint Anselm (6-10). However, Holy Cross (6-10) got wins at the bottom two doubles spots and final four singles positions to record the win.
The pairs of Isabela Bagi and Morgan McGuire and Jennifer Kary and Caroline Kam recorded 8-2 and 8-0 wins at second and third doubles, respectively, for the Crusaders. Perkins and Malerbi improved to 13-4 at the top spot with a hard-fought 9-7 win over Allison Reiling and Katie Elia.
In singles, Perkins won her 10th consecutive match and her 17th in 19 matches this season by downing Reiling 6-1, 6-3 at first singles. Malerbi outlasted Elia in the lone three-set match of the day by a 7-6 (5), 3-6, 10-8 scoreline for her ninth win of the season at the second spot.
Bagi, Kam and Kary posted straight-set wins at third, fourth and fifth singles for Holy Cross, while McGuire won 8-1 at sixth singles with the team result already determined.
The match was the final match on Saint Anselm's spring schedule.
