MANCHESTER, N.H. – Jess Perkins picked up her ninth consecutive win at No. 1 singles but visiting Colby-Sawyer used a doubles sweep to defeat the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.
Colby-Sawyer (17-5) got 8-2 wins from the pairs of Ashlyn Ramsay and Ashley Woodside and Lauren Blanchard and Christine Hill at first and third doubles. The match at second doubles between Aislinn O'Connor and Michelle Lopes and Ashley Sulkin and Meghan Golden went all the way to a tiebreaker but O'Connor and Lopes claimed the breaker 9-7.
Saint Anselm (6-9) earned a singles split with the Chargers, winning at the odd-numbered singles spots. Jess Perkins brushed aside Ramsay 6-0, 6-1 at the top spot.
Meghan Golden picked up a 7-6, 6-3 win over O'Connor at third singles, while Kathryn Rindo cruised in the second set of a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Hill at fifth singles.
Perkins' win saw her improve to 16-2 this season, including a 14-1 mark at No. 1 singles in dual matches.
Saint Anselm is scheduled to play Holy Cross on Tuesday, April 19 at 3:30 p.m. at home.
