Women’s Tennis Ends Season with 7-2 Loss at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Jess Perkins (Shrewsbury, Mass.) earned a pair of wins, but the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team closed out its season by taking a 7-2 defeat against Assumption College on Wednesday afternoon at the Assumption College Tennis Courts.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • Perkins was a 6-2, 6-0 winner against Cassie Burbine at No. 1 singles and also combined with classmate Meghan Golden (Scituate, Mass.) on an 8-5 triumph against Burbine and Hanna Riley at No. 1 doubles.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Saint Anselm trailed 2-1 following doubles play and pulled even in the match with Perkins' singles victory, but the Greyhounds won three straight to seal the win and the final five for good measure.

NOTES

  • Perkins, who wraps up the season 15-2 in singles play, is 19-1 at No. 1 singles in dual play since Oct. 4, 2014. She has also won 22 of 24 Northeast-10 No. 1 singles matches dating back to Sept. 14, 2014.
