Women’s Tennis Ends Season with 7-2 Loss at Assumption

WORCESTER, Mass. – Sophomore Jess Perkins (Shrewsbury, Mass.) earned a pair of wins, but the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team closed out its season by taking a 7-2 defeat against Assumption College on Wednesday afternoon at the Assumption College Tennis Courts.

  • Perkins was a 6-2, 6-0 winner against Cassie Burbine at No. 1 singles and also combined with classmate Meghan Golden (Scituate, Mass.) on an 8-5 triumph against Burbine and Hanna Riley at No. 1 doubles.

  • Saint Anselm trailed 2-1 following doubles play and pulled even in the match with Perkins' singles victory, but the Greyhounds won three straight to seal the win and the final five for good measure.

  • Perkins, who wraps up the season 15-2 in singles play, is 19-1 at No. 1 singles in dual play since Oct. 4, 2014. She has also won 22 of 24 Northeast-10 No. 1 singles matches dating back to Sept. 14, 2014.
