Women’s Tennis Grounded by Southern New Hampshire, 7-2

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomores Jess Perkins (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Meghan Golden (Scituate, Mass.) each won their singles matches, but the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team fell to crosstown rival Southern New Hampshire University, 7-2, Saturday afternoon at the Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS

  • Perkins battled Nour Kaddour at No. 1 singles and earned a 6-4, 7-5 victory.
  • Golden pulled out a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 No. 3 singles win against Yolanda Green.
  • Perkins and Golden were narrowly edged by Ashley Loft and Kaddour at No. 1 doubles, 9-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Saint Anselm was within 4-2 after the Perkins and Golden triumphs, but the Penmen took the final three singles matches to earn the W.

NOTES

  • Perkins, who is now 14-2 in singles play this season, is 18-1 at No. 1 singles in dual play since Oct. 4, 2014. She has also won 21 of 23 Northeast-10 No. 1 singles matches dating back to Sept. 14, 2014.
