Women's Tennis Doubles Up Franklin Pierce, 6-3

RINDGE, N.H. – Senior Alexandra Lawrence (N. Scituate, R.I.) won a pair of matches to lead the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team to Tuesday afternoon's 6-3 win against Franklin Pierce University.

The Hawks win for the second time in their last three matches to improve to 3-7 on the season and in Northeast-10 play. The Ravens drop to 3-9, 1-9 NE-10.

Lawrence battled back to earn a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory against Natasha McCarthy in No. 1 singles. Lawrence also teamed with junior Katherine Morrissey (Sturbridge, Mass.) to post an 8-1 win against McCarthy and Emily Parrett in No. 1 doubles.

Freshman Kathryn Rindo
(Lowell, Mass.) beat Parrett, 6-2, 6-3, in No. 3 singles action.

Sophomore Kate Martin (Hudson, N.H.) handled Melissa Cohen in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, while freshman Julie Rohnstock (Scituate, Mass.) made nearly as easy work of Christine Boulanger, 6-0, 6-1.

Senior Rachel Pedro (Weymouth, Mass.) and freshman Leah Fitzgerald (Bedford, N.H.) joined forces for a 9-7 No. 3 doubles win against Cohen and Boulanger.

The Hawks return to action Thursday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m. when they play host to Bentley University on Senior Day.
