Women’s Tennis Doubled Up by Merrimack, 6-3

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Senior Alexandra Lawrence (N. Scituate, R.I.) was victorious in a pair of matches, but the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Merrimack College on Monday afternoon at the Carr Center Tennis Courts.

The Hawks drop to 1-5 on the season, including 1-4 in Northeast-10 play, while the Warriors better their record to 3-7, 3-1 NE-10.

Lawrence was ahead, 6-3, 3-1, in No. 1 singles when Shakee Messina was forced to retire due to injury. Lawrence also teamed with junior Katherine Morrissey (Sturbridge, Mass.) to post an 8-6 No. 1 doubles win against Messina and Katie Veasey.

Freshman Julie Rohnstock (Scituate, Mass.) earned the Hawks' other point with an 8-6 win against Veasey in No. 6 singles action.
