MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Katherine Morrissey (Sturbridge, Mass.), sophomores Kate Martin (Hudson, N.H.) and April Regan (Berlin, Conn.), and freshman Kathryn Rindo (Lowell, Mass.) each won a pair of matches to lead the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team to an 8-1 victory against the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday afternoon at the Carr Center Tennis Courts.
The Hawks pick up their first victory of the season to improve to 1-4, including 1-3 in Northeast-10 play. The Golden Knights, meanwhile, dip to 0-9, 0-9 NE-10.
Morrissey defeated Sarah Klein, 6-0, 6-1, in No. 2 singles action and also teamed with senior Alexandra Lawrence (N. Scituate, R.I.) for an 8-1 win against Jennifer Crego and Paige Southwick in No. 1 doubles.
Martin blanked Keri Robinson, 8-0, in No. 5 singles and earned an 8-3 victory against Maggie Moran and Alyssa Haddad as she combined with Rindo, who took down Haddad, 8-3, in No. 6 singles play.
Regan captured a 7-5, 6-2 win against Southwick in No. 3 singles and joined with junior Christine Woods (Wilmington, Mass.) to post an 8-0 victory against Robinson and Klein.
Senior Rachel Pedro (Weymouth, Mass.) was victorious in her No. 4 doubles match against Moran, 6-3, 6-2.
