RINDGE, N.H. – Junior Amanda Brahm (Marlborough, Conn.) and senior Lauren DeGuglielmo (Wakefield, Mass.) each earned two points to lead the Saint Anselm College women's tennis team to a 6-3 victory against Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday at the Grimshaw-Gudewicz Activity Center.
The Hawks have now won three of their last four, including two straight, to improve to 4-5 on the season and in Northeast-10 play. The Ravens drop to 1-8 overall and in the conference.
Brahm defeated Lauren Smilovich in No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4, while DeGuglielmo beat Nikki Chalifoux in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5). Brahm and sophomore Colleen Kluberdanz (Pawcatuk, Conn.) downed Chalifoux and Amy Carpentier, 8-4, in No. 3 doubles action. DeGuglielmo teamed with senior Erika Sartor (Andover, Mass.) to earn an 8-1 victory against Drew Alexander and Smilovich in No. 2 doubles play.
Sophomore Alexandra Lawrence (North Scituate, R.I.) defeated Kaitlin Krolikowski, 6-0, 7-5 in No. 1 singles. In No. 6 singles, senior Venessa Centofanti (North Reading, Mass.) earned a 6-2, 6-2 win against Tina Bonelli.
The Hawks return to action Saturday, April 9 when they play host to Le Moyne College at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.
